A couple of weekends ago, I had the honor of shooting rap artist Sole and the Skyrider Band at San Diego’s Soda Bar for ALARM Press.

Welcome to Fall

November 8, 2010

Sorry for the pause in posts. I blame my absence on the fact that my camera was absent from me for about a week while it was getting serviced at Canon. Not that I wasn’t shooting during that time, or that I didn’t have older things to posts, but for some reason it just felt…weird.

My camera has safely returned, as has the Fall weather (thankfully, because I couldn’t stand that heat any longer). So to celebrate Fall, here are a few more shots taken in Portland (yes, we’re still not done visiting Portland!)

I love a good lens flare.

Happy Halloween!

October 30, 2010

Not quite in the Halloween spirit yet? Maybe these photos will help get you there. Since Treble needed some art for a special Halloween feature, I spent a little time in the Campo Cemetery in Old Town.

Plus, Old Town is a great place to check out a few Dia de los Muertos altars.

For this shoot, I brought along my good friend Laura. Here’s one of my favorites from what she captured that night.

Happy hauntings!

Dining, Portland Style

October 24, 2010

If you’ve seen many other posts on my blog, by now you’ve noticed that food is a frequently photographed subject for me. And when I travel, seeking out foodie destinations is a big part of the agenda.

Let’s kick things off with everyone’s favorite Oregon doughnut indulgence, Voodoo Doughnuts. It is the week before Halloween, after all…

Another must-visit stop on the Portland eating excursion was the Tabor food cart for a “schnitzelwich.” This place is lauded by foodies everywhere, from Chowhound to Bon Appetit. Praise well deserved.

Finally, on our last night in Portland, we went by Pok Pok, another one of those places that seems to be universally praised by foodies. They don’t take reservations, so there’s usually a pretty good wait, but the system they have in place is genius. There’s a bar across the street called Whiskey Soda Lounge, and the staff there gets paged by the hostess from Pok Pok to let you know when your table is ready! Bonus points that the cocktails there are inventive and finely crafted.

Stick around because there are some tricks and treats in store on the blog this week…I’ll take a detour from Portland later this week to share some Halloween inspired photos at a local graveyard. But first, be on the lookout for Broken Social Scene at the Crystal Ballroom. Here’s a hint of what’s to come:

Bicycle, Bicycle…

October 20, 2010

Know what Oregon loves? Bikes!

No, I mean they really love their bikes. Check out this bike, uh, “rack” at the University of Oregon.

Of course, you will need some good quality coffee after your bike ride.
